Nicole Faria is the 2010 Miss Earth, and this is the first time an Indian has won the title. She has been involved with a wide range of environmental awareness activities. Some of them included recently going to Bangkok to promote the Miss Earth 2011 competition that will take place in Thailand on November 12th.

Nicole was very enthralled by the turn out, and her work over this past year has been phenomenal. She got a very warm welcome due to the excellent work she has done through the Miss Earth Foundation. She found the Philippines to be very invigorating, and she immediately fell in love with the natural wonders found around the country there. One of her goals is to make sure they continue to be well preserved for future generations to enjoy.

Nicole is currently in her final year of college too where she is majoring in Psychology. She plans to continue her love of the Earth and promoting ways to protect it even after here reign as Miss Earth 2010 ends in just a few short months.

She has already gotten many people to take part in protecting the Environment due to her own goals. At a Gala Dinner in Nha Trang, she was able to get people to pay $50 each to take a picture with her. The money all went to the charity fund to educate students about the environment.

For this Gala Dinner, she also donated plenty of items that were her own. She signed some of the items to help them bring in more money too. The overall fundraising effort was a huge success and many feel it was due to the efforts of Nicole above all others that helped this to occur.

One of her favorite events this year has been the planting of trees along Mui Ne Beach. This was done in an effort to offer environmental protection to the area. At the same time it was also part of International process that included Miss Earth 2009, Larissa Ramos. It is hoped that these trees will be around for a very long time to help preserve the area.

Nicole says that she loves this pageant because it is more than just about the beauty of the girls in it. They are all part of an overall effort to help protect the Earth and to make it as lovely as it can be. She is honored to have been able to be the leader of this effort and says it has definitely impacted her life for the better. Lessons she has learned will always be a part of what she does.

While there is plenty of excitement about who will become the new Miss Earth 2011, she will have very large shoes to fill. The organizations says that Nicole is one of the best winners they have ever had. She was perfect in every aspect of her role, and she will be greatly missed. Perhaps she will have some words of wisdom to pass on along with that crown in November.
